Preston Pantomime Group is Weymouth’s longest running local pantomime group, and we’re still going strong after 40 years!

The Preston Pantomime Group (PPG) has been in existence since 1979 and, after a start at the Scutt Hall on Sutton Road, it is now firmly based at the Preston Village Hall.

February pantomime

The highlight of our year is undoubtedly the annual pantomime each February half term which, over the last 40 years, has become a tradition in Preston, watched and enjoyed by hundreds of people from the local area.

Each year is a brand new show with original ideas and routines - we always try and so something to surprise people! PPG produces the entire show itself, not only on stage but also directing, choreography, set building and costume design.

In past years however, plays, reviews and musical evenings have also been produced during the summer months. We are a very mixed group of individuals from many walks of life with our ages ranging, at the moment, from 4 years to… shall we say well into retirement! Our aim is to produce shows with the accent very much on fun… for everyone!

It’s like one big insane family!

Charities

As well as raising money for our next production, each year a portion of the ticket sales for our pantomime supports different local charities.

Over the years we have helped raise thousands of pounds for good causes in the local area and beyond thanks to the generous donations of ours audiences.

During our 2023 production of Jack & The Beanstalk we supported the following local charities:

  • Friends of Dorset Care Leavers

  • Bikeability Weymouth

  • Weymouth Foodbank
